We will hear from women participating in the Division and how it has helped them via their journey in regulation and insightful nuggets of advice. The first of this series is Leah Glover, a companion within the Banking and Finance zone. While she knew regulation was a professional adventure, she speaks about how ladies can deal with a bad war of words and how the Women Lawyers Division has helped her.
Why did you select regulation?
I’ve desired to be an attorney for as long as I can, don’t forget. The profession is not continually as glamorous as the TV might have people accept as true. Still, it is secure to mention it hasn’t disappointed me to this point – it’s intellectually challenging, and I enjoy being in an advisory position. The only disadvantage for me is the long hours, but achieving awesome final results for a purchaser makes it all worth it.
When did you decide the banking region became the one for you?
If someone had instructed me at 16, I might have turned out to be a banking and finance lawyer; I wouldn’t have believed them – the world of finance regarded any such daunting and horrifying vicinity. However, during my schooling agreement, I realized the non-contentious drafting work was better suited to my talent set, and I gravitated to that form of painting. I also realized that the monetary international was without problems accessible once you get your head around the terminology. I like approximately its miles getting innovative with the files while customers need bespoke provisions.
How do you deal with a poor war of words?
Difficult human beings are observed in every place of business, and sadly, it’s something most folks will deal with at some unspecified time in the future. However, you can improve your surroundings and morale when you learn how to address awful behaviors inside the workplace. I think the key is to strive not to take rejection, in my opinion, be brave and try and study from the reveal that has caused the poor war of words – is there something you could do in another way subsequent time?
Best tip on enhancing confidence?

The Women Lawyers Division is a safe space to speak about issues girls face of gender. The inspirational audio system they host every year at the annual Fiona Woolf lecture, without a doubt, shows the high-quality things that can be completed through our gender in this profession. In addition, the activities hosted by the Division have given me some useful equipment that has helped me to go in addition to my work – pointers on networking, constructing confidence, and having tough conversations about salary and promotions, to name a few.
