Former Maj.-Gen. Tal Rousso is eligible to run as No. 2 within the Labor Party, Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit instructed the Central Election Committee on Monday. A petition had been filed to block Rousso from strolling because he had served inside the IDF reserves till 2017. According to the regulation, senior IDF officers have to wait a cooling-off period of three years before they can run for the public carrier.
Mandelblit explained that serving in the reserves isn’t similar to a common carrier. He said that the 3-12 months cooling-off duration simplest applies to officials still in regular services. Officers who officially retire from standard services, however, then retain or go back to serve in a reserve capability, aren’t restrained using the cooling-off duration.
